Information on the Deutsche Dermatologische Lasergesellschaft (DDL)

The Deutsche Dermatologische Lasergesellschaft (DDL) was founded in Sigmaringen in 1992 and is an association of dermatologists who have specialised in dermatology laser applications and at the same time are representatives of laser safety. The DDL is entered in the register of societies in Munich and currently has 123 members in Germany and neighbouring countries.

The primary objective of the DDL is to educate and train its members on laser safety and the use of various types of laser and therapies on human patients.

In addition members of the DDL carry out scientific studies to improve existing laser therapies and to investigate new indications for laser skin therapy. In parallel the public are informed about established laser treatment methods. This work with the public is a particularly important function in view of the many newly formed associations in the area of laser skin therapy. Patients searching for a skin specialist experienced in this area must be able to rely on the professional competence of members of a professional association. For this reason the DDL acceptance criteria are designed to retain the expertise of DDL and its members.

Each year the DDL organises a large national training meeting and several smaller symposia (e.g. as part of MEDICA), workshops and courses for representatives of laser safety.

The list of members can be obtained by phone or fax. Information on laser therapy can be requested from the DDL secretariat.
